15 May 2014, LIBRARY – The rain was pouring heavily this afternoon but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the MP3 Exam Camp participants to get engaged in the activities that have been planned out by the facilitators. On the spacious balcony outside the library, students sat on the floor, in front each one of them laid a piece of paper with a number written on it. The students and papers were arranged in a shape that resembled the X and Y axis. They were making a map grid and between these two axis stood two students pointing and ordering each other to go to the correct grid point. Cikgu Kartini and Cikgu Siti Hazizah were seen giving out instructions and explaining to the students on how to read directions on a map through a roleplay activity.

This is one of the many activities that the Year 11 Geography teachers have readied in the pipeline for their four sessions of MP3 Exam Camp. Due to teachers’ other commitments, the 12-hour workshop have been broken down into four 3 hours long session and this afternoon, students were polishing their Map Reading skills.

Geography is an option subject offered to the Year 11 students in this school. Because of this, the number of participants taking part in the Geography MP3 Camp is not as big as during the Mathematics, Combined Science and Bahasa Melayu sessions. However, the level of energy remained stagnant and high and students were clearly enjoying themselves, indicated by the resonating laughters that bounced off the walls of the library this afternoon.

Geography MP3 Exam Camp will be continued this Saturday 17 May 2014 from 1pm until 4pm.
